Anonymous signup
Short definition
Account creation that requires only a pseudonymous identifier (a chosen pseudonym; email optional) without legal name, ID, or phone number.
Anonymous signup is the practice of letting a customer create an account using only a pseudonymous identifier — typically a self-chosen pseudonym, optionally accompanied by an email address (which itself can be anonymous, e.g. via SimpleLogin or AnonAddy) — without disclosing legal name, residential address, government ID, or phone number. It's the baseline of privacy-respecting service design.
Anonymous signup is rare in mainstream SaaS because card processors typically require some KYC information for fraud control. Offshore hosts that accept crypto can sidestep this entirely — there's no card processor in the loop demanding KYC. SilentHosts uses pseudonym-based signup for all customers, with email entirely optional. Where a customer wants a B2B EU VAT invoice, an optional company-name field is provided; this is not required for service delivery.
