The pitch

Why pay with USD Coin

USDC is the regulated alternative to USDT. Issued by Circle and audited monthly, it is the stablecoin of choice for customers who prefer compliance-friendly attestations over Tether's more opaque reserve disclosures. Both are transparent on-chain; the difference is in the issuer, not the privacy posture.

We accept USDC on Ethereum mainnet through BTCPay's Ethereum integration. The flow is identical to USDT-ERC20 with USDC selected as the token at checkout. Gas costs ($1–8 typical) and confirmation thresholds (2 for under $500, 12 above) match other ERC-20 sends. Polygon and Base USDC are not currently supported — we accept Ethereum-mainnet USDC only.

For most hosting customers, USDC is the right choice when (a) they already hold USDC from regulated channels (Coinbase withdrawals, Circle Mint), or (b) they prefer Circle's monthly attestations and US-regulated posture over Tether. If neither applies, USDT-TRC20 is materially cheaper to settle and equally USD-stable.

  • Regulated USD stablecoin — Circle issues and attests monthly
  • Ethereum-mainnet acceptance, ERC-20 standard
  • USD-pegged — no price exposure during the cycle
  • Refunds paid back in USDC
  • Hardware wallet and DeFi-friendly
